Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as shot firers, drillers and production operators, working in underground metalliferous mining, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures. This qualification is available for sites that wish to provide this for their employees. Also available as a traineeship.

Practical Assessments: On-site, MTA Training Facilities (where appropriate) or RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning).
This qualification may be available as a traineeship

Above 18 years old. Must be currently working on an underground mine site.

This unit applies to individuals who complete work activities in an underground metalliferous mine.

12-18 Months.
The duration will vary depending on operator experience and elective units chosen.
