To get into mining you need your Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation OR licences in Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Gas Testing, Operate 4WD Vehicle and Forklift ticket.
We can offer you those tickets and at the moment the Cert II in Resources and Infrastructure is funded ***.
The short courses and tickets take 1-2 days training, and the certification takes between 2-6 months.
Once you make a start in the industry, career progression is endless, and many positions will continue to put you through further training throughout your working history.
What is FIFO?
Fly in Fly out or FIFO is a common working arrangement in the mining industry as mine sites are often located in regional areas. FIFO workers are required to travel to and from the mine site via flying or driving (Drive in Drive out /DIDO). When seeking a job on the mines the willingness to work on a FIFO roster can increase your job prospects. Staying physically fit is crucial as many jobs are physically demanding. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine will very useful when apply for and maintaining work.
