You can become a health and safety representative by learning the relevant skills and completing the appropriate course. You may also build on your skills with more advanced courses in this field.

Resources and infrastructure worker

A resources and infrastructure worker can be employed in a variety of different sectors and mine sites. They have a range of broadly applicable skills that work for different work environments like small mines, civil construction sites, and regular building sites.

Surface extraction

Underground metalliferous mining roles occur in underground mines and focus on extracting metal minerals. At an entry level, you can work as an operator in a variety of different metalliferous mines.

Our Certificate II for metalliferous mining is relevant for entry level roles, while our Certificate III is for anyone wishing to consolidate their skills and increase their expertise in the area.

Rigging trainee

For someone looking to take the first step into working on a drilling rig. You will learn fundamental skills related to equipment like hoists, safety nets, perimeter safety, screens, structural steel erection and much more. This may be a physically demanding role, so you need to be someone who can handle the physical rigours of a mine site properly.
