What is a Driller’s Offsider?

A driller’s offsider is an entry-level role within the mining industry, working in exploration, either on the surface or underground. This position often requires working on a FIFO (fly in/fly out) basis in challenging environments, requiring physical fitness and resilience to perform manual labor.

This role is ideal if you are seeking:

Course Details

The Driller’s Offsider Job Ready Program includes four units of competency:

  1. RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights
  2. RIIVEH305F Operate and maintain a four-wheel drive vehicle
  3. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  4. HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

These units are designed to provide you with the essential skills needed to work as a driller’s offsider in the resources industry. Upon completion, you may be offered an interview with an employer depending on your skills and experience.

  • Time: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Location: The Pivot Institute/Mine Training Australia

 

Face-to-Face Training

Experience practical, in-person training at our state-of-the-art Osborne Park training center.

Are You Eligible for Fee-Free Driller’s Offsider Training in Perth, Western Australia?

Eligibility for subsidised training requires that you:

  • Are at least 18 years of age;
  • Have a valid and unrestricted “C” class driver’s licence;
  • Have left school and have your primary place of residence in Western Australia
  • Are an Australian citizen, a permanent visa holder, or hold an eligible visa

Eligible visas include subclasses 309, 444, 785, 790, 820, Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051), subclass 449, subclass 786, and subclass 457, among others. Year 12 school leavers from 2023 can also access subsidised training from 23 October 2023.
